Courses & classes

Levels, schedules, enrolment, attendance and certificates.

If you have never studied the language before and wish to start from the beginning, the A0 is definitely the right level for you. If you have studied the language before, it would be useful to book a free placement test and let our teachers help you find a class that best matches your abilities.

You can book a free placement test here.

It depends on the level. The A1 level can be completed in 100 hours, whereas higher levels take longer. Our levels are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the duration of each level follows the recommendations of most educational institutions such as the University of Cambridge.

You can read more about our levels and learning outcomes here.

Our language courses are currently not SkillsFuture claimable due to changes in SkillsFuture funding policies. However, our Leveraging Gen AI to Enhance Communication and Presentation Skills course is SkillsFuture claimable. We hope to introduce more SkillsFuture claimable courses in the future.

Our teachers are trained in the communicative approach, an approach to language teaching that emphasises interaction and the use of language in real-life situations. Each course has different learning objectives that increase in difficulty according to your level of competence. We help you practice speaking, listening, reading and writing so that you can develop the full range of language skills.

You can find out more about inlingua’s approach to learning here.

We keep our class sizes small so that we can maximise your opportunities for interaction and participation. Typically, we have about 6 students per class, although we can accommodate class sizes from 4 to 15.

Each lesson is 2 hours long and each hour is 50 minutes followed by a 10-minute break.

Our Standard and Accelerated programmes are run between Monday and Saturday. Lessons can be once, twice, thrice or five times per week. Lessons are offered at different times of the day, afternoon and evening with each lesson lasting 2 hours.

Intensive courses are a Monday to Friday course with lessons in the morning or afternoon.

For Intensive 25, there are two daily lessons of two hours each, with one hour of self-access to our listening programme.

For Intensive 35, there are two daily lessons of two hours each, with one hour of self-access listening and two individual lessons with a private teacher lasting an hour each.

Lessons are usually scheduled between 9AM and 6PM.

Awesome! First, select a course you want to enrol in. You can easily select your preferred course by visiting the page of the language or programme you are interested in. An apply button should appear on the course card shown under the available courses.

Next, you will be prompted to confirm your course and fill out the remainder of the application form with your contact information. Make sure to check through your personal and course details before you submit.

Once we receive your application, we will contact you with some final instructions and officially enrol you if nothing else is required. You can read more about our enrolment process here.

If you can’t find the course you are looking for or you are unsure which is the best course for you, just drop us a message and one of our advisors will get in touch with you to help you find the most suitable programme to meet your needs. Get in touch with us here.

No worries. We normally adjust our timetables to meet the needs of our students. Just drop us a message with your preferred start date and suggested timing, and we will do our best to start a new class that matches your schedule. Get in touch with us here.

Yes. We regularly conduct classes at our clients’ office, although we may arrange an additional transport fee if your office is far from our school’s premises.

If you miss a lesson, the lesson can’t be replaced but you can request the class notes and some guidance from your teacher on how to catch up. If you wish to book a make-up lesson, this can be arranged for an additional fee. Get in touch with us here.

Sure. Provided you haven’t missed more than 3 lessons, we can arrange make-up lessons to help you catch up with the programme. After that, you can join a class that has already started. If you have missed more than 3 lessons, it may be better for you to wait for the next starting course. Get in touch with us here.

Standard and Accelerated courses are not scheduled on public holidays — the start and end date of the courses take into account public holidays so that you never have to miss a lesson. Lessons on Intensive courses that fall on public holidays can’t be replaced. However, the programme will be adjusted so that you are always on target with the objectives of the syllabus.

It depends. If you enrolled in a Standard or Accelerated course, you can’t take holidays and missed lessons won’t be replaced.

If you are enrolled in an Intensive course, you may be able to apply for holidays subject to the management’s approval and in compliance with your attendance requirements for Student Pass (if applicable).

Sure. If you are enrolled in a Standard, Accelerated and Intensive course and you are not on a Student Pass/Visa, you can be excused from attending the lesson, but the lesson won’t be replaced.

If you are enrolled in an Intensive course and you are on a Student Pass/Visa, you will have to visit a doctor and obtain a medical certificate to be excused from attending the lesson. The lesson won’t be replaced. As per Immigration policies, your attendance is communicated to the authorities every two weeks and if your absence is not supported by a medical certificate, there is a risk of your attendance falling below the requirement. It’s good practice to inform the school every time you feel unwell so that we can give you support.

In the same way our face-to-face classes are delivered, but from the comfort of your home or wherever you are. Our online courses are conducted on the Zoom or Microsoft Teams platform which allow us to deliver very interactive lessons that stay true to our approach to learning and that ensure high levels of participation from all students.

You need a device that can connect to the internet and a reliable internet connection. We recommend using a computer (with a camera) as mobile phones and tablets can have limited functions, such as not being able to receive files in the chat.
